Music - The effects on atmosphere

Many of you know that music creates a mood, an experience, a memory, but are you using this in your business to your full potential? I have spoken to many business owners who think that music is just something that is played and they need it because someone once told them that they had to have something playing in their outlet. I have spoken to others that use the medium to create a mood or an atmosphere, have a guess who are the most successful? What makes this worse is that business owners are playing the radio in their business, uncontrolled content! Imagine that you are waiting in line to order at Subway and McDonalds are advertising direct to you whilst you are waiting, they are targeting their market in a competitors store, this is not good for business.

Businesses spend a great deal of money advertising to the market to attract people to their store which is great, so what do they do once they have their target market in-store ready to make a purchasing decision? Well the smart ones use music to make their customer feel good, comfortable, relaxed or energetic depending on the demographic that they are marketing to and the type of business that they are in. As well as music, clever advertisements placed within the playlist can help their customers make a purchasing decision.

Music is not just music, it is a powerful medium and used correctly will increase a businesses revenue, remember that "music calms the savage beast" use it well and they will come.
